- Travel, music collecting and creating art, whipped cream, leather straps and chocolate sprinkles.
- What does a rebellious artist do after post modernism?
- It is beautiful in it's simplicity, playfulness and bold near primary colors. I chose this artwork because Joan Miró i Ferrà didn't revel in pretentiousness and knew when to walk away before over complicating a piece of work. I could have gone for a landscape, but then I'd rather live in it, or a nude that I'd rather sleep with, so after a second or two of cogitation I decided the feelings of jealousy, lust and greed are not normally considered beautiful and I chose this painting which is devoid of politics, power, fantasy or envy, which are most of the subjects you definitely will want to avoid with a dozen strangers that you're about to spend a fall term chatting online with in your art class.

Hey Russell! Happy to have another class with you! I enjoy the art piece you chose a lot. Before I really understood abstract works, I figured anyone could do it and that it looked easy to do. Come to find out, it is way more complicated than just throwing some stuff together. I also like the boldness and playfulness of the piece as you described it as well.
ReplyDeleteI like how this piece looks like someone observing a globe. The starkness of the black makes it seem really waited keeping the person and audience grounded while the stars are fast sharp lines giving a sense of freedom and flight.
